Noa Miller was born in Israel and began her musical studies with piano at the age of four. In 2003, she began studying trumpet with Joyce Johnson-Hamilton. In 2017 Dr. Miller won first place at the International Women Brass Conference Susan Slaughter Solo Trumpet Competition (Category I). She also has been previously a semi-finalist in the Graduate Solo and the Ensemble Divisions at the National Trumpet Competition. She has participated in prestigious summer festivals and seminars such as Atlantic Music Festival, Marrowstone Music Festival, Chosen Vale International Trumpet Seminar, and Summer Brass Institute and Festival. As a chamber musician, she is a founding member of the Category V Brass quintet and has frequently performed with the Capital City Brass Quintet. As an orchestral performer, Dr. Miller is currently the second trumpeter with the Aiken Symphony Orchestra, principal trumpeter of the Aiken Civic Orchestra, has subbed with the Augusta Symphony, a member of the Columbia Chamber Orchestra, and the Bruch Chamber Orchestra. As an educator, Dr. Miller has taught beginners through professional army musicians. She currently maintains her private trumpet and French horn studio at Music & Arts. She has been previously an adjunct faculty at University of South Carolina, teaching Music Appreciation, and teaching applied trumpet on the faculty at Columbia College (SC), the Carolina Summer Music Conservatory, the University of South Carolina Community Music School, and the US Army Band contracted music teacher (for the trumpeters in the 282). Noa Miller earned her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Trumpet Performance and a minor in Music History from the University of South Carolina. She received her Master's degree in Trumpet Performance from University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and Bachelor of Music in Trumpet Performance from Ohio University. Her primary teachers include James Ackley, Alan Siebert, Phil Collins, John Schlabach, and Joyce Johnson-Hamilton.
